Virginia Jane Holzner

Virginia Jane Holzner, 64, of Lacey Spring, Va., passed graciously from this life Friday, April 10, 2009, at her home surrounded by family.

The daughter of the late Alexander Burns and Nina R. Cole, many friends knew her as "Ginny" or "Chick".  Ginny was born in New York City, Active Image

N.Y., on Jan. 26, 1945, and graduated from McLean High School in 1963.  Ginny worked at the Department of Interior in Washington, D.C., prior to moving to the Shenandoah Valley and taking on her lifelong ambition of raising a family.

On Feb. 5, 1966, she married Charles F. "Chuck" Holzner, who survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Terri H. Wuenschel and husband, Greg, of Bluemont, Va.; two sons, Carl B. Holzner and wife, Melissa, of Weyers Cave, Va., and Kirk J. Holzner and wife, Kimberly, of Lacey Spring, Va., as well as four grandchildren, Paige, Morgan, Alex and Cole.

One sister, Nina M. Fitch of Lacey Spring, also survives.

Ginny worked as a Sales Demonstrator at Costco for 14 years.  She was a member of the Woodland Hills Extension Homemaker Association.  Ginny and her husband were active members of the Plains Promenaders Square Dance Club of Timberville for 16 years.  Ginny made friends wherever she went and hoped that her friends would remember the good times that they shared.

Visitation will be on Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Mount Tabor United Methodist Church on Route 11 in Lacey Spring with Pastors Mark Landis and Carl Stewart officiating.  Burial will be at the Lacey Spring Cemetery.

The family plans to establish a memorial garden in Ginny's honor at the family farmhaus in Lacey Spring, and live plant contributions would be welcomed.

Online condolences may be sent to the Holzner family at www.kygers.com.

The Holzner family wishes to express our heartfelt gratitude for the many kindnesses extended to the family during our recent loss. Your sentiments, cards, meals, flowers, plants, and donations for the memorial garden have been a source of comfort in this difficult time, and we know that Ginny would have been touched and honored by this outpouring of love.

The family of the late Virginia J. Holzner

Chuck, our thoughts and prayers are with you. We saw the notice in the paper
this morning and we know how saddened you, your children and the rest of the
family must be.
We have not seen you in a long time, but hardly a day goes by
when I don't reflect on some of the things you've said to me over the years.
Blessings to you and yours.

We were so sorry to hear of your loss. We certainly admire the great care you
gave Chick and I know each of you were a blessing to her. She was always so
proud of her family and I hope it will be a comfort to each of you knowing you
did everything you possibly could with her and for her. She was a lovely person
and will be missed by so many. Continue to share the family legacy with her
grandchildren so they will know about their lovely grandmother.
Our thoughts go
with each of you.

We will always remember your mom as a kind and witty woman . . . a woman full of
strength, and deeply filled by the love she both gave and the love she received.
May memories of Ginny always be present in your hearts, and may the love of
friends and family sustain you in the days ahead.

Kirk,
Here is a poem that Kay and I recieved just recently.

Your Loved One
lives In Your Heart

Many tender memories soften your grief,
May fond
recollection bring you relief,
And may you find comfort and peace in the
thought
Of the joy that knowing your loved one brought...
For time and space
can never divide
Or keep your loved one from your side
When memory paints in
colors true
The happy hours that belonged to you.
~ Helen Steiner Rice

Kay
and I will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

I have wonderful childhhood memories of Virginia. We spent many hours playing
cards together in her backyard in the summers; spent many Fourth\'s of July
in neighborhood parades; trick-or-treated together on halloween; and many other
fun neighborhood activities. She was always lots of fun and I will always have
a soft spot in my heart for her.

So sorry for all the heartache the family
has been through. You will all be in my prayers.

us anymore. We have known Ginny for over eighteen years and she will be greatly
missed. My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family. We feel so
blessed to have known her for so many years. May fond memories and God's love
sustain you at this time. May all the chapters of your life together be of
comfort to you now and in the days ahead. May you feel the strenghth of your
family and friends and know that you are being thought of with much prayer and
love.

Terri & Family, May the comforting thought from the book of Revelation, 21:4 be
of comfort to you. It reads: "He will wipe away every tear from their eyes,
and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor
pain anymore, for the former things have passed away." Offering my deepest
condolences during this difficult time.
