Gene Cochran, 78, of Elkton, passed away April 7, 2009, at Baltimore Veterans Medical Center in Baltimore, Md.
Mr. Cochran was born Feb. 5, 1931, in Nashville, Tenn., and was the son of the late Dewey Ray and Dorothy Brummitte Cochran. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and retired as a draftsman at Hopeman Manufacturing and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
His wife, Wanda Merica Cochran, preceded him in death. He is survived by a son, Keith Cochran and wife, Carla of Elkton; a brother, Ronnie Cochran of Maryland; a sister, Ina Schroeder of Colonial Beach, Va.; three grandchildren, Andrew Scott Cochran, Tabitha Cochran, Forest Cochran; and three step-grandchildren, Devin Erke, Tyler and Gwendolyn Diehl. He also was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Robin Cochran.
Pastor Don Leatherman and Mark Leatherman will conduct a funeral service 11 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2009, at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Elkton. Burial will follow in the Koontz Family Cemetery on Naked Creek with graveside rites by the Gooden Brothers VFW Post No. 9292.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
