Mildred Anna Blank

Mildred Anna Blank, 85, of Harrisonburg, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at her home. Mrs. Blank was born in Berlin, Pa., on Jan. 1, 1924, and was a daughter of the late Allen and Rodella Laughery Weimer.

Mildred was a dedicated member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for 52 years and was previously employed at Owens-Brockway for 20 years in Harrisonburg. Following her early working career, she was a stay-at-home mother and wife. She, along with her husband, enjoyed gardening in the summer and during the winter tended to her enthusiasm for birds. She also enjoyed her Saturday evening church masses, where she loved visiting with friends. Her primary focus was love for her family and belief in her church.

On July 19, 1943, she married her husband of 66 years, Gerald Thomas Blank Sr., who survives. She is also survived by two sons, Gerald T. Blank Jr. and wife, Donna, of Harrisonburg and Ronald L. Blank of McGaheysville; a brother, Allen Weimer Jr. of Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister, Alfretta Blank of Wellersburg, Pa.; two grandchildren, Wesley Blank and wife, Valeda of Keezletown, and Lora Brooks and husband, Jeremy of Charlotte, N.C.; and one great-grandchild, Camden Blank.

A private graveside will be held at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in Harrisonburg with Father Thomas Mattingly officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made the RMH Regional Cancer Center, 100 E. Grace Street, Harrisonburg, VA 22801.

Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.kygers.com.

Jerry, Ron and POP

When first I read of the passing your Mom/ wife my heart
was filled with sadness. Sadness for the loss of a wonderful person so filled
with loving care and kindness to others. I always made to feel as one of her
boys whenever I visited her home. That was a long time ago but never
forgotten.

Now that she has passed she is receiving the greatly deserved
rewards of heaven.

Rejoice in the fact that you have not lost your
mother/wife but have let her go into the arms of GOD.

My thoughts and love
are with you all.

Gerald, Jerry and Ron,

I was saddened to read of the passing of your wife,
mother. I share in your sorrow.
While the pain of sorrow overcomes you today,
remember any pain or suffering she experienced is now over. And our hopes are
those of good times you will experience when one day you will rejoin her. Once
again the chain will be reunited. If I can do anything to help, let me know.
