Harold Rudolph Shifflett, 77, of Elkton, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at his home. Mr. Shifflett was born on May 9, 1931, in Elkton and was a son of the late Octavy and Laura Morris Shifflett.
Harold was a technician at McQuay for many years and was a United States Army
Veter an who served in Korea during the war. He was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist and the Gooden Brothers VFW Post No. 92929, both in Elkton. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his grandchildren.
On Nov. 2, 1956, he married his wife of 52 years, Pauline Rion Shifflett, who survives. He is also survived by a son, Alden R. Shifflett and wife, Kimberly, of Elkton; two daughters, Sharon S. Hensley of Harrisonburg and Carolyn S. Firkin of Elkton; his sister, Marion Shifflett of Elkton; five grandchildren, Holli S. Janzen, Canaan Shifflett, Courtney Firkin, Christopher Firkin and Summer Shifflett; one great-granddaughter, Savannah Janzen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Harold R. Shifflett Jr., and a brother, Robert Wayne Shifflett.
Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Gerald Meeks, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2009, at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Elkton. Burial will follow at Elk Run Cemetery in Elkton.
There will be no formal visitation but friends may call at the Shifflett home at anytime.
