William Randolph "Billy" Merica

William Randolph "Billy" Merica, 56, of Shenandoah, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2009, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg.

Mr. Merica was born Sept. 2, 1952, in Elkton, and was the son of the late Randolph and Ruby L. Mowbray Merica.

On April 10, 1982, he married Ruth Turner Merica. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, W. Chad Merica of Shenandoah; a sister, Patricia Dean and husband, Steven, of Elkton; a nephew, Michael T. Dean and wife, Stacie, of Elkton; two special nieces, Myra Patton and husband, Steve, Tara Meadows and husband, Chris.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, March 12, 2009, at the Mt. Lebanon Congregational Christian Church in Shenandoah with the Rev. Mike Reynolds and Jay Viands officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Lebanon Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton. Friends may also call at the Merica home in Shenandoah and at the home of his mother at any time.

Online condolences may be sent to the Merica family at www.kygers.com.

Mom and I were so sorry to hear about the passing of Billy. We both worked with
Billy at Mick or Mack in Elkton. Billy always had a smile on his face and was
fun to be around. I use to refer to him as "Billy ReHilly" and he would
always smile. When it would snow, he would come get Mom and I and bring us to
work.

Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult
time.

I am so sad to hear about Billy passing away. I remember when we
were teen-agers riding around Elkton and you were always looking for Billy.
Billy was a great guy and was always nice to me. I hope you can always cherish
your memories and that they will comfort you at this time. If there is anything
I can do please let me know. May God Bless you and your family at this very
difficult time.
