Dennis Elvin Dean, 83, of Elkton, departed this life on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital. He had been ill since Thanksgiving.
He was born Oct. 31, 1925, in Greene County, Va., and was a son of the late Elijah and Dorothy B. Shifflett Dean.
He is survived by four brothers, Leo Dean of Baltimore, Md., Willard Dean and wife, Anna Mae, Max Dean and wife, Pauline, all of Elkton, Va., and Junious Dean and wife, Patricia, of Shenandoah, Va. A sister, Mildred V. Royston, preceded him in death. Dennis is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Dennis had many friends in the Naked Creek area of Elkton.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Elkton with Frank Meadows officiating. Burial will follow in the Elk Run Cemetery. The casket will remain closed.
