Rosalie Herring Yancey, 67, of McGaheysville, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, at Harrisonburg Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Yancey was born on Dec. 10, 1941, in Rockingham County, and was the daughter of the late George and surviving Lillian May Herring.
Rosalie worked for Rocco and also was a homemaker. She was a member of Faith Bible Church in Harrisonburg.
On May 2, 1959, she married Raymond Edward Yancey Jr., who survives.
In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by two sons, Ray Edward Yancey Jr. of Linville and Tommy Lee Yancey of Elkton; four daughters, Rita May Williams of McGaheysville, Sandra Lee Yancey of Penn Laird, Judy Hoover of Rawley Springs, and Lori Yancey of McGaheysville; and seven brothers, Sonny Herring, George Herring, Donnie Herring, Ernie Herring, Ronnie Herring, Junior Herring and Gary Herring, and 15 grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Mount Olivet Cemetery in McGaheysville with the Rev. Gary May officiating.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton.
