Eula Mae Downey Lawson, 82, of Elkton, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009, at her home.
Mrs. Lawson was born May 4, 1926, in Rockingham County, and was the daughter of the late Maynard Downey and Pearl Davis Downey.
She was an immaculate housekeeper and a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Elkton.
On Dec. 22, 1945, she married Henry Avis Lawson, who preceded her in death on June 3, 2003.
Survivors include two daughters, JoAnne Lam and husband, Billy, and Alice Faye Lam and husband, Garland, all of Elkton; one grandson, David Ray Lam and wife, Brenda, of Elkton; two great-grandchildren, Aaron and Todd Lam, both of Elkton; two special sisters-in-law, Hazel Downey and Nina Ordway; and a number of nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. Lawson was preceded in death by brothers, James Downey and Millard Downey, sisters, Helen Bear, Annie Good and Ruth Dean.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday at the Evangelical United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Patricia Riggs officiating. Burial will follow in the Elk Run Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday (tonight) from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton. Friends may also call at the Lawson home at any time.
