Richard R. "Dick" Futch

Richard R. "Dick" Futch, 81, of Shenandoah, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg.

Mr. Futch was born Oct. 1, 1927, in Rocky Point, N.C., and was the son of the late Raymond and Mary Lee New Futch. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Gladys Canney.

Dick was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Shenandoah and was also a member of the Massanutten Hunting Club, Inc., Merck Rod and Gun Club and was on the Board of Zoning Appeals in Page County. In his retirement he enjoyed farming, hunting and fishing. He was a United States Air Force Veteran and retired in 1984 from Merck and Company as a mechanic.

On April 15, 1960, he married Betty Lou Sampson Futch, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Mark Richard Futch and fianc

Dear Betty Lou, Mark & Cherly
We are greatly saddened to hear of the loss of
Dick your precious husband and loving father. He was such a beautiful person
and mother and I have such fond memories of him from years to past. I'm sorry we
are unable to be with you all right now. Please know that our thoughts and
prayers go out to each one of you and to your familes during this difficult
time. May you all gain strength knowing that he is in the comfort of the Lord's
hands and will be watching over each and everyone of you. God bless and take
care mom and I will see you all next week.

Please except our deepest sympathy in the loss of your loved one. We all
enjoyed talking with Mr. Futch and will truly miss seeing him. He was always
very pleasant and personable.
