Dean, Kim and family-
I am so sorry to read about your loss. Parents and
Grandparents are always hard to say goodbye. You are in my prayers and if there
is anything I can do please let me know!

Dean, Kim, and sons:
I am very sorry to hear about your Dad. It is never
easy saying goodbye. He helped me many times when my own family would not. All
will miss him, his stories, and his smile. Let us know what you need us to do.
We will keep all of you in our prayers.

As a long time member of the Middle Atlantic Chapter of the American
Rhododendron Society, I knew and admired John and his many very valuable
contributions to our Chapter. His father was a Charter Member of our Chapter
and I enjoyed knowing him too. My condolences to LuDean and the family. We
have missed seeing both of you at meetings in recent years but we think of you
often.

I met John when I taught art with LuDean. I have never known a more gracious,
kind, and gallant gentleman (yes, he was gallant, the word may be obscure, but
it fit him). I doubt I ever saw him without that bemused smile and a twinkle in
his eyes. He will be missed greatly and remembered fondly.

We are very sorry to read of the passing of such a great man to his family,
friends, and the community. I grew up knowing the family in Stokesville and
remember them fondly. He will be grreatly missed by all. Our prayers go out to
all the family.

There are no words great enough to describe how proud I am to be his
granddaughter. He was my best friend, my support, and my voice of reason. He
and my grandmama mean more to me than they'll ever know. I can still hear his
loud sneezes and Grandmama screamin' "John, do you have to do that?"
And I love my grandmama so much, but I swear she sneezes louder than he does
now. I love it! Even though he is gone I know he's always with me. He's the
voice in my head, keeping me going strong. I can only hope that one day I can
be half the person he was. I love you Granddaddy and so does Grandmama...she
still doesn't use the computer. You are greatly loved and missed by all who
knew you!
