Ila Virginia Yancey Kite, 69, of Elkton, passed away Jan. 22, 2009, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Kite was born Dec. 8, 1939, in Rockingham County, and was the daughter of the late Raymond Yancey and Elsie Yancey Hensley.
She attended the East Point United Methodist Church and the Shenandoah Pentecostal Church. Mrs. Kite was a homemaker and loved gardening. She had worked at Alliance in Shenandoah and E.A. Breeden Construction.
On Feb. 18, 1957, she married Cline E. Kite, who preceded her in death on May 22, 2004.
She is survived by three daughters, Rose Marie May and husband, Gary, of Shenandoah, Judith Ann Mowbray and husband, Keith, of Elkton, Joyce Elaine Lam and husband, Greg, of Elkton; three brothers, Bobby Yancey of Elkton, Harry Yancey of Shenandoah, Eddie Yancey of McGaheysville; one sister, Faye Oakley of Scottsville; four grandchildren, Jeremy May, Justin Lam, Emily Lam, Hannah Mowbray; four great-grandchildren, Mikayla Riggleman, Michael Ritchie, Patrick Sly, Nicholas May; numerous nephews and nieces. Mrs. Kite was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Breeden, and a brother, Joe Yancey.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Elkton with the Revs. Carrie Talbott and Mike Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in the East Point Cemetery near Elkton.
The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton or at the home at any time.
