Jerry W. Fitzgerald

Jerry Wayne Fitzgerald, 63, of Linville, passed away on Friday, Jan. 9, 2009, at Active ImageRockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg.

Mr. Fitzgerald was born on Sept. 29, 1945, in Augusta County, and was the son of the late Stanley and Mary Lowery Fitzgerald.

Jerry worked in the service department for Extinguisher Sales and Service in Harrisonburg. Jerry served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict from 1965 until 1967.  He was also a member of the Shenandoah Valley American Legion No. 188 and the AmVets No.7.

Mr. Fitzgerald was preceded in death by his first wife, Carrie A. Fitzgerald.

On July 7, 2007, he married Annie Smith, who survives.

In addition to his wife, Jerry is survived by one son, Danny Fitzgerald of Harrisonburg; one daughter, Lisa Fitzgerald; and one stepson, Michael Hunter Smith; one stepdaughter, Lurena Lynn Brown of Tennessee; and six grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, at 7 p.m. at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg with the Rev. Wayne Wright officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service.
