I was one of Oscars ham radio friends at Churchville when they lived there. He
will be missed by all of us "hams". He was always one of my
inspirations in ham radio. A lot of us aspired to reach similar goals that he
reached in his radio career. I was one of the fortunate ones who was able to
acquire some of his radio stuff when he was moving to Harrisonburg. I use some
of it every day and will remember him when doing so. My condolences to you the
family - I just wanted you to know how much we All will miss him.

It was a pleasure to have known Oscar. He was a real inspiration to me to do
some building of equipment. He graciously supplied me with components to build
my first Hi Power amplifier. He was a legend in ham radio circles for his
operating acheivements on the ham band. I wanted the family to know how much I
appreciated him and how he will be missed by the ham communitiy.

I am so sorry for your loss, and extend my sincere condolences to your family.
Although I did not know Mr. Oscar personally, but he clearly was loved and
cherished and will be sorely missed by many. It is painful losing such dear ones
to death for we want to live and enjoy life with those we love. But the
scriptures reassure us that we can see our dead loved ones again. The Bible
teaches that most people who have died will be resurrected. Jesus Christ
himself promised that "those in the memorial tombs will...come out."
(John 5:28, 29) In harmony with God's original purpose, those resurrected humans
will have the opportunity to live on a paradise earth. (Luke 23:43) This
promised future includes perfect health and everlasting life for obedient
humans. The Bible reassures us that "the righteous themselves will possess
the earth, and they will reside forever upon it." (Psalm 37:29) Other
scriptures that bear...

Gwen - Although Jane and I never met your Dad, Lew shared with us the summary of
his days on earth and we were able to see what a wonderful and full life he led.
As you prepare to celebrate the memorial service celebrating his life, we want
you to know that you and your Mom are in our thoughts and prayers. We look
forward to seeing you soon.

It was only today that I sadly learned of Oscar's passing via QST Magazine. I
have fond memories of QSO's with Oscar, "W4YJ" over thirty years. He and
I had much of the same interest and each QSO was always a learning experience
for me! I remember my visit with Oscar and his sweet wife at their home in
Churchville just like it was yesterday before they moves to Harrisonburg. Oscar,
W4YJ will be sadly missed.
