Herald Williams, 80, of Harrisonburg, passed away Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008, at his home. Mr. Williams was born Feb. 12, 1928, in Fort Seybert, W.Va., and was the son of the late Robert and Hulda Eye Williams.
Herald was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Herald 
participated in the World War II cleanup efforts towards the end of the war and later moved to Harrisonburg, where he was a warehouse manager for Gordon's Potato Chips. He was employed in the accounting departments at Dunham-Bush and Wharton Aldhizer & Weaver PLC. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the U.S. Postal Service. Herald enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and collecting coins.
On Oct. 20, 1948, he married Thelma Virginia Williams, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Joyce W. Kuhns and husband, Jim, of Harrisonburg; a grandson, Andrew G. Hedrick and wife, Stephanie, of Statesville, N.C.; a great-granddaughter, Gillian Hedrick of Statesville; two nieces and two nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008, at Otterbein United Methodist Church in Harrisonburg with Pastors Edward Fleming and Mark Keller officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery in Brandywine, W.Va. There will be no formal visitation but friends are welcome to visit at the Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg at anytime.
