Vivian Wampler Smith, 84, of Bridgewater and formerly of Grottoes, died Monday, July 7, 2008, at the Bridgewater Home.
Mrs. Smith was born Feb. 2, 1924, in Weyers Cave and was the daughter of the late Charles H. and Elsie Ann Teter Wampler.
She graduated from Port Republic High School and was a member of the Grottoes Church of the Brethren. She had worked as a clerk for Walker Manufacturing in Harrisonburg, was a farmer with her husband on the farm and was a homemaker.
On June 1, 1946, she married Robert Fulton Smith, who preceded her in death July 8, 2001.
Surviving are a son, Stanley L. Smith of Charleston, W.Va.; a daughter, Shirley S. Wheeler of Swoope; a brother, Paul W. Wampler of New Hope and three grandchildren.
Pastors John Neff and Dee Flory will conduct the funeral 11 a.m. Thursday at the Grottoes Church of the Brethren. Burial will be in the Pleasant Valley Church Cemetery in Weyers Cave.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton. Friends may also visit at the home of her brother, Paul and Shirley Wampler, at 303 New Hope/Crimora Road, New Hope, VA at any time today.
