Melvin Earl Grimsley, 83, of Shenandoah, died Friday, April 25, 2008, at his home.
Mr. Grimsley was born March 11, 1925, in Page County, and was a son of the late Sye and Grace Comer Grimsley.
He was in the U.S. Navy and served time in World War II. He was employed by Norfolk & Western for 18 years and later was a self-employed painter.
His wife, Ellen May Lucas Grimsley, preceded him in death Oct. 14, 2005.
He is survived by three sons, Jackie Kandill of Toms Brook, and Roy Dale Kandill and Kenneth Kandill of Shenandoah; two brothers, Amos Grimsley and Bungas Grimsley of Luray; four sisters, Eleanor Purdam, Phyllis Robertson, Ginny Shifflett and Frances Turner of Shenandoah; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be held at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
