Cornelia Virginia Moore

Cornelia Virginia Moore, 55, of McGaheysville, died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2008, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.Active Image

Mrs. Moore was born Oct. 21, 1952, in Harpers Ferry, W.Va., and was the daughter of the late Rev. Boyd W. Moats and the late Hazel Moats-Cubbage.

She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She had been employed at Hanover Shoe Co., in West Virginia, Metro Pants Co., in Harrisonburg, McDonalds and more recently at Marshall's in Bridgewater.

On March 27, 1977, she married Gary W. Moore of McGaheysville, who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Kelli L. Smith of Richmond and Carrie C. Moore of McGaheysville; six brothers, Allen Moats Sr. and Boyd Moats, both of Moatstown, W.Va., David Moats of Port Republic, Bobby Moats of Crimora, Ricky Moats of Grottoes and Frank Moats of Moatstown, W.Va.; seven sisters, Della Mae Redman of Franklin, W.Va., Arlene Williams of Stuarts Draft, Darlene Barrow of Moatstown, W.Va., Dorothea Nelson of Fishersville, Linda Woodson of Waynesboro, Genevieve Mitchell of Killeen, Texas, and Karen Juarez of Mount Jackson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The Revs. David Jones, Guy Wood and Sam Barrow will conduct the funeral 2 p.m. Saturday at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisonburg. Burial will be in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

To Gary, Kelli and Carri, and Grandchildren:  
Kelli and Carri I'm so sorry to hear about your mom she was like a mom to me, correction like mother I never had. I remember growing up with you girls, staying over and your mom was like the mother I never had always so nice, acring and had a wonderful sense of humor. She had a laugh that noone could forget. Gary I'm sorry about Corneila but God knows what's best, and we must trust in him. You all are in my prayers. Kelli remember when your mom tied that string around my tooth and pulled it out. (smile for me) those we're the good times. I love you all. May God Bless you keep you within his arms and comfort you in now and forever.

To the family of Cornelia (Corny) I worked with her at McDonalds, and really liked her. we had some good laughs togethar at work. would talk to her when she came into Walmart. she told me about her cancer, but didn,t realize it had come back. was shocked to read of her passing. my condolences to all the family. you will have good memories. I will truly miss her, I loved talking with your mom/wife every time we saw each other. She was a good soul! It looks like God needed another angel!! Love, Tina
