Beverly Allen "Butch" Charleton Sr., 65, of Harrisonburg, died Friday, Aug. 1, 2008, at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.

Mr. Charleton was born Oct. 31, 1942, in Harrisonburg, and was the son of Edna Marie Charleton and the late Elmer Lee Charleton Sr.

He was self-employed for over 25 years by Mason Contracting as a brick mason.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine Charleton, whom he married Sept. 1, 1961; two sons, Beverly Charleton Jr. and Donald Charleton; three daughters, Jeanine Dinges, Tina Conley and Melissa Charleton; a brother, Elmer Charleton Jr.; three sisters, Carolyn Dean, Janet Myers, and Nancy Dean; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Jeremy Poling will conduct the funeral 2 p.m. Tuesday at Kyger Funeral Home in Harrisonburg. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 this evening at the funeral home.
